God did something for me this week, I didn’t expect to happen. As I sat in my car this morning reflecting on how just one call, one email, one letter can change things in your life and can shift you to the next level, I sat in silence. I was deeply ashamed that beyond just saying “thank you”, what more could I do to show my God how grateful I am that he would take a break from His busy schedule to do something to remind me of his love for me! Nothing! You can NEVER out give God or think God owes you. He is in debt to NO man. For that reason, I just want God to know “I love you” and mean it with every fiber of my being. Happy Wednesday.
When I woke up this morning, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper this in my spirit “If you can’t stand people, chances are you don’t understand them”. Hmmm…really Jesus? That was my first response but I had to caution myself to see the bigger picture. How many times have I challenged myself to push past people’s hang-ups, character flaws to understand them? My defense mechanism has always been “Well, they did it to me first. Why should I push past people’s craziness when they won’t push past mine?” 2 years ago, when the holy spirit began to deal with my callus heart, my mom told this “Because you’ve been loved, you have to love”. Love was a very foreign concept. I can’t say during these last 20 plus something years that I’ve never been loved because I’m sure either the following has happened:
1. It wasn’t the right kind of love
2.The love was conditional
3.I fought against
4.Didn’t believe I could I be love
I’ll be honest, I had angry-black-women-syndrome! LOL. For a few good reasons, but the love God was enough to break it. My conviction now has been 1 John 4:19 “We love because he first loved us”. Yes, we’re not God. Yes, we’re not perfect. But yes, because He lives in us we are an extension of who He is. We can’t pick and choose what we can want from the word. My lesson learned for today is to look past people’s behaviors and find out how I express and extend love.
Ok, so I’m still really loving the braids. Which I haven’t had in yearrss! Apparently, I think I secret believe I’m Janet Janet 1996. Remember from the last post”2 words: Poetic Justice”. LOL. However, I have to wash my hair every 5-7 days to avoid a flaky scalp and to stop itching. These are some products I’ve been using:
1. Groganics Liquid Scratch
Why I love it: A slight fragrance, it works instantly! I mean the itchy is judo chopped and stopped in it’s tracks!
2. Mizani Scalp Care Shampoo &Conditioner
Why I love it: It’s soothing and moisturizing at the same time. It’s a little higher up on the price scale but it’s worth it!
3. Moroccan Oil, Oil Treatment
Why I love it: I can use in two ways: Mix it with peppermint oil(please try it!) or mix it with my conditioner for a deep treatment.
These products are great for ALL types of hair. No matter what ethnicity you are, if you have similar scalp issues you can absolutely use it. Try these products out and tell me what you think!
