The Treaty of Perpetual Peace

I heard the Lord whisper in my spirit late last night a particular term I haven’t heard in quite a while & it inspired a train of thought: In biblical times, Kings often married off their sons or daughters to the heir of countries they entered peace treaties with. It was a public statement that as long as “Something of mine” is connected with “Something of yours”, war within these walls are unnecessary. This is called the “Treaty of Perpetual Peace”.

What is “Treaty of Perpetual Peace”?

Here’s a little history to give you a better understanding:

The Treaty of Perpetual Peace was signed by James IV of Scotland and Henry VII of England in 1502. It agreed to end the intermittent warfare between Scotland and England which had been waged over the previous two hundred years…. As part of the treaty, a marriage was agreed between James IV and Margaret Tudor, the daughter of Henry VII”.

Translation: This term is often used for the political world to represent an agreement between two nations that were once at war. To seal the act, a public statement was made. Often times, a marriage would take place.

Example 1:

The Marriage of David & Micah

For those of you who know the story, we later find out that King Saul gave Micah as trap to David and constantly looked for a way to penetrate David’s camp through his own daughter. But it didn’t start out that way: Saul made a public decree that anyone who could slay Goliath, would receive Micah’s hand in marriage. It so happened to be David. God openly let everyone know he was rocking with David since day 1! It would’ve been in Saul’s best interest to be team David but his own insecurities got in the way. Now, you know David didn’t play when it came two things: His God and his woman LOL! In 1 Samuel 25:44:

“For Saul had given Michal, his daughter, David’s wife, to Phalti, the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.”

That’s rude. Saul was making a public statement that he didn’t want to have any relation to David. He didn’t want him to be his son-in-law and wanted to block every prophecy that David would be the next King of Israel. Beyond going back on natural a peace treaty was made, Saul broke the spiritual law.  Talk about Shady Boots! Read 1 Samuel 17, 25, & 31.

Example 2:

The Marriage of Solomon & well, his many wives LOL

I strongly believe the reason Solomon had so many wives (beyond the obvious fact he that was a P-I-M-P, LOL), was because his walls were secured and he was at peace. David fought so many battles that he ran into overtime and ended up fighting his son’s battles (I hope you caught that). By the time Solomon got on the scene, the wars have been fought, and the memories of David’s record breaking victories put enough fear into the heart of his enemies that surely his reigning son would not be as forgiving. So quickly, the Kings of all the surrounding countries said “Solomon, we don’t want any issues with you so here you go” and promptly handed out their daughters. As the records show, Solomon did not hesitate. You are automatically in agreement with something you love, crave or desire. You have to do something physically to make a statement that you’re indeed in agreement that person, place or thing. This is what made God upset with Solomon, he went into peaceable agreements with strange gods & deities. Read 1 King 11.

Example 3:

The Marriage of Ahab & Jezebel

Another example of a political peace treaty believe it or not was Ahab and Jezebel. Every wondered how Jezze ended amongst the Israelites? Ahab came from a lineage of warriors. His father Omri was a commander of the army and became King by killing off all of his opponents. When Ahab took his father’s throne, he married Jezebel as a peace treaty with her father, the King of Phoenicians. Read 1 King 16-22.

Don’t rush to enter into an agreement with just anyone. God maybe trying to settle a war you know nothing about. What you have here are biblical examples “Treaty of Perpetual Peace”. The word perpetual means: lasting, permanent, continuous, everlasting, eternal, and any other word you can think of that means “this isn’t coming to an end anytime soon”. Love is like war. You have to fight to get to it, to maintain it & sometimes to forget it. If you’re like me, be encouraged today. Don’t focus on the commercialism of Valentine’s Day. If you don’t have it: Your own will come. If you got it: Let the sparks fly. But just know that you are a daughter or a son of a King & it is with God’s permission that you will enter the right treaties & they will be everlasting. Until next time.

The Third Trimester of Destiny

Yep. Up all night. Can’t sleep. Shortness of breathe. Still kinda snappy because now you have to make your own sandwich after you specifically told dude NO mustard. Goodness, you just want things done right! (I digress LOL).  You’re walking around like a walrus. You’re so heavy. There’s so much movement going on in the inside of you, you’re surprised that no around you can feel it. To be quite honest, you’re not excited as you were when you first found out you were pregnant. As a matter of fact, you’re ready to write this kid an eviction notice. I call it “The Third Trimester of Destiny”.

I’ve noticed that three things inspire my blog posts:

1. What the Spirit of God is dealing with me at a specific time and season

2. Real life experiences

3. Hilarious situations I find myself in, where I’m like “There just HAS to be a lesson in all of this!”

This particular post is inspired by a friend of mine who just had a kid *Auntie Mode: He’s cutie pootie, yes he is!* A pregnant woman has to watch her way. She has to make adjustments, exemptions and take precaution in order to safely deliver when she is at full term. Do you see a pregnant woman going skydiving? Do you see a pregnant woman doing cartwheels and backflips? A pregnant woman is not even suppose to go on a roller coaster! On the flip side, pregnant woman hates to sit in one spot for too long. Why?  It contradicts what’s going on inside her. There is kicking, there is movement, there is gas, there are uncomfortable days, because new life is happening on the inside of her.

Seasons are extremely important for Christians. What’s even more important is the ability to identify which season you’re in. Have you ever heard of those “I Was Pregnant & Didn’t Know It” stories? Crazy right?! It is because they did not pay attention to the symptoms. Being pregnant is seasonal, it does not last for ever. Pay attention. Don’t know if you’re pregnant with purpose, take a test. How right? Ask your self these few questions:

 1. What is the Spirit of God speaking to you about?

2. What makes you passionate?  Like it causes your spirit man to leap?

3. What are you praying about? Outside of your normal me, myself & I prayers.

4. What is dream life like?

5. What type of books are you reading?

6. What do you tell yourself? Do you feel as though there is more to life?

These type of questions are important. Don’t think you’re pregnant with anything? Get pregnant on purpose. Tamar, Judah’s daughter in law did it. But’s that a whole other post for another time…Until next time.

The Impact of Life

I write this post with sincere sadness…it finally hit me….who I am, was not who I’m meant to be…Let me put it this way:

Who were we? BEFORE we had issues: insecurities, daddy issues, mommy issues, born of out wedlock issues, generational & bloodline issues, “ You offended me!” issues,   “Nobody likes me” issues, turmoil, tragedy mixed with drama, events that derailed our destiny journey…THAT’s the very person God has called us to be. Instead of fighting through all of these issues to figure it out on our own, let us take counsel with the One we came from.

That’s what Absalom didn’t do. The mere millisecond of the moment he got offended with his father David, It all came crashing down. Maybe Absalom was rightfully suppose to be the next of King over all Israel or general of his Father’s army. We never got to see who Absalom was suppose to be because he got caught up in drama. Let’s not forget, he was King David’s son. David had daddy and mommy issues so there was nothing he wouldn’t have given his son. But the issues of life affected Absalom so greatly, he stopped being himself and in fact became an enemy of his own Father (which  was  dumb because who has EVER won against David. God literally fought his battles-no Bueno for Absalom LOL). Read the story for yourself, it’s all sorts of crazy!

2 Samuel 15

2 Samuel 17

2 Samuel 18

There are two things I believe that can change or alter who a person is:

1. External Events-Things that happen “TO” you

2. Internal Events-Things that happen “IN” you

(I’ll further explain this in another post)

Everything in life is meant to leave an impact on either one these two categories. I’m always uncomfortable when people say “I’ve been through a lot” & continue to down their self-pity story…we ALL have been through a lot. Just because you’re Christian, you’re not exempt from a rainy day. But remember, seed needs rain in order to spring forth & blossom! I beg you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, please don’t make the mistake many of us have made…don’t let life issues change YOU. This is not easy, I KNOW! Trust me, I KNOW! The bright side is that the Spirit of God will empower, strength and remind you that the things that you can’t do or even CAN do (but it would work out much better for us if we took God’s way of doing things); He will grace us to do.

Pray with me:

Lord, before I entered my mother’s womb you knew me. You drew out my life plan with your hand. You wrote my name on your heart. You thought enough of me to let me be the apple of your eye. But God, this journey on this side of heaven has messed me up. I desperately want to become exactly who you intended for me to be. Forgive me for everything I’ve done or said against myself or others out of pain, ignorance or impatience. God, you have a plan, will and purpose for me life & I accept it. I don’t want anything else. I don’t want to chase money, success, an image, a man, a well-known name, a crown and miss the whole point of my purpose on earth. Father, open my eyes to see what you have purposed for me. I no longer want to wallow in self-pity, criticize myself of my shortcomings or curse the day I was born because I’m having a bad day. I exit that level and that way of thinking. I shut the door of immaturity and will now take counsel with you on every issue in my life. I now call forth my God ordained, life-proof self to exist. The very person you intended for me to be, I now walk in it, starting today and onward. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Welcome to your new level! Perception is everything. Until next time.

Grammy Award 2014 Looks

Ok, I debated whether I should say anything about these Grammy looks. Overall, I think in the Christian Community we did ‘OK’. “C” for Classy LOL! I feel like the Grammy’s is the time where you have to be like “POW! I’m here. Hey, world. RESPECT-do it!”, you know what I mean? Let’s get to it:

20140204-131447.jpgTasha Cobbs…Bae-Babe! This cobalt blue is perfect. The look had to grow on me I must admit! I would’ve done a updo so we can SEE the dress. I do like the makeup.

20140204-131455.jpgTye Tribett…*smh* Uncle Tye

Erica Campbell, did GooGoo do this? Erica is my aunty in my head but this look was a bit much. Imagine this look; with no bow, strapless but keep the sweetheart neckline. The material is beautiful, the color is great. The design…*shaking my head really fast*

20140204-131513.jpgNatalie Grant…I would’ve pulled her hair all back; put her something a bit more form fitting, a pop of color on her lips. I do like that necklace. It’s a great statement piece.

20140204-131523.jpgBishop Paul Morton

20140204-131529.jpgPastor William Murphy & Wife

Mandisa. LOVE the fuchsia. The ripple dress, not so much. I would’ve like to see her makeup a bit more neutral. Maybe something to give a nice glow, even.

20140204-131556.jpgDeitrick Haddon. RayRay and June Bug, come get ya cousin LOL. These Ray Charles shades…I can’t. I DO like the shoes though but I’ve seen this look before. I guess if it’s broke, don’t fix it…*shrug*
